Distinguished vocalist, activist, and composer Sona Jobarteh is a living archive of the Gambian people. With an eye toward both history and the future, she is paving the way for the next generation. A modern-day griot and the first internationally recognized female kora virtuoso from a prestigious West African griot family, Jobarteh performs with an electrifying Afropop band, sharing songs that explore identity, love, and respect while bridging tradition and contemporary culture.
